Road Works - Dallington Area

ROAD  AND FOOTPATH REPAIRS: December 2016 Work is on-going upgrading and sealing footpaths on the following sections of roads in the Dallington Residents Association Area.
The following residents will be affected:  Achillies Street, Rowe Place (off Ajax Street), Banks Avenue, Bampton Street, Barclay Place, Cresswell Avenue and New Brighton Road.  (These are all in the DRA).

Work also will occur on Medway Street, Petrie Street, North Avon Road, Marshland Road and Golf Links Road.

NORTH PARADE:  Work is due to start as of 9th January 2017 on North Parade occurring on the road surface between Banks Avenue and Averill Street.  The traffic flow is controlled by Temporary Traffic Lights and the traffic lights at Averill Street at Shirley Boys High School have been switched off until the work has been completed.  Work on the Footpath and Cycleways outside the Shirley Intermediate School is now complete.

MARSHLAND ROAD:  Work is currently affecting the footpath at The Palms Mall.  Please Take Care!!

Electric Cable Renewal

Electric Cable Renewal:  ORION in conjunction with SCIRT (Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team) is in the process of laying a new underground heavy duty electric cable of 66,000 volts (66Kv) that will enable power supplies to be fed again to the Dallington Substation in Coopers Road.  The Cable will run from the McFaddens Substation  to the Dallington Substation

Fletcher Construction will lay the cable between the McFaddens Substation to the Corner of Hills Road and Innes Road and McConnell Dowell will lay the remainder of it from the corner of Hills Road and Innes Road via Briggs Road, Olivine Street, Voss Street, Pagoda Street, Joy Street, Golf Links Road, New Brighton Road, Bampton Street and accross Coopers Road to the Substation.

As further information comes to hand I will update you.  (Updated 8th January 2014).


NORTH PARADE - CLOSURE:  Please be aware that the part of NORTH PARADE between Averill Street and Randall Street will be closed to all traffic except residents and workmen from the 10th May 2017 until at least the 13th July 2017.

The Photographs Supplied courtesy of Downer show the area affected by these flood remediation works and the different detour routes to be used depending on where you live and the style of drain being installed to be a part of this emergency bypass system.
MAP 1:  Shows the area where the pipeline will be installed on North Parade as part of
this project.  This is why the detours are necessary.
